#JAI SIMHA MOVIE REVIEW SERIES#
Second half is a total let-down with a series of cringe-worthy scenes. It will leave you disgusted to see the ace comedian desperately trying to make the stale comedy work.įirst half is passable to an extent with a lengthy episode on Brahmins and the pre interval sequences. There is a comedy track on Brahmanandam which is a rehash of Vadivelu’s track from Chandramukhi. None of the episodes between Balakrishna and Nayanatara has that emotional connect and Haripriya’s scenes are straight out boring. There is a villain and action part too, it is however restricted to few scenes as the director focuses too much on the ‘sacrifice’ part. We expect Samarasimha Reddy kind of back story for him, but in the flashback there is a love story that is stretched too far between Balakrishna and Nayanatara. It starts off like a typical Balakrishna’s film as the protagonist keeps on suppressing his anger. Ratnam came up with an eighties setup and characterizations and Ravikumar’s old-fashioned execution made it even worse. There are a few elements to please fans and B and C centers audience, which should help the film to sustain until the festival period is over.

One would expect a roaring and powerful mass entertainer with ‘Simha’ in the title, but all Jai Simha offers is a tear-jerking melodrama where the protagonist keeps on sacrificing everything for his love. Production values are just okay as the film is made with a moderate budget. Cinematography has nothing to rave about. His direction in first half is passable, but the second half puts the patience to test.Ĭhirantan Bhatt’s background score is very loud. He follows the old school techniques to elevate the drama and that doesn’t appeal to the tastes of current generation audience.

KS Ravi Kumar’s screenplay and execution makes it feel like we are watching a twenty year old film. Prabhakar and Asutosh Rana as the bad guys are very loud. Prakash Raj got a very passive role and Brahmanandam’s comedy is so boring and stale. Hari Priya and Natasha characters are badly written. Nayanatara played an emotional character and she is fine within her character’s limitations. His energetic dances in Amma Kutty will impress fans. His performance in the Brahmin episode stands out. He is at his ferocious best in action scenes. Why are their kids identical? What is the story behind Narasimha and Gauri?īalakrishna appears in two different getups yet again. Thereafter he confronts Gauri (Nayanatara) whose son is a look alike of Narasimha’s son. He comes across a local goon who vouches to kill his son.
#JAI SIMHA MOVIE REVIEW DRIVER#
He settles down in Kumbakonam as a driver in a rich man’s house. Verdict:A typical Balayya mark entertainer which is a treat for fans and a decent one time watch for the rest.Narasimha (Balakrishna) with his infant baby goes to find a right place to bring up his son. The movie has all that is expected in a Balayya film with an added emotional touch. Second half takes an emotional route and the climax emotionally connects with the audience to an extent which is the saving grace for the film. First half is okay with a few good mass moments. Screenplay and direction by K.S.Ravikumar is good and saves the otherwise routine film. Dialogues are okay but nowhere close to those in Legend and Simha. Johnny master’s choreography for Ammukutty song is superb. Music and bgm by Chirrantan Bhatt are good. Brahmanandam appears after a long time and is okay. Ashutosh Rana as main villain is menacing. His steps in Ammukutty song will make audience go crazy. He is incredible in songs, fights and dialogue delivery. Performances:Balakrishna once again delivers a highly energetic performance. What is his past? Who is Gowri(Nayantara) and who are searching for him and why forms the story. Story:Narasimha(Balakrishna) along with his new born child move to Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu to live a peaceful life.
